Tshilwavhusiku police have opened a murder case and arrested a 27-year-old woman, alleged to be the mother of two young boys, following their untimely deaths in separate incidents on Tuesday, 02 June 2026. Both victims are suspected to have been poisoned.

The first incident occurred at approximately 11:10 when police were summoned to Tshilwavhusiku Health Centre following a report of a patient suspected of poisoning. Upon arrival, officers were directed to the lifeless body of a six-year-old boy lying on a bed. Preliminary reports indicate the child’s father, who does not reside with the family, transported the deceased to the clinic at approximately 09:20 after the boy complained of stomach pains, diarrhoea, and vomiting earlier that morning.

Later that day, at approximately 12:30, police received a complaint from a family member regarding a missing eight-year-old boy who had been at school. A search of the area led authorities to Madabani Village, where the child was found deceased at his home. He was discovered lying on a bed wearing a blue tracksuit top and long tracksuit trousers. Members of the Emergency Medical Services declared him dead at the scene.

Preliminary investigations confirmed that both deceased were siblings from Madabani Village and that poisoning is suspected in both deaths. Police investigations commenced immediately and culminated in the arrest of the 27-year-old female suspect on Wednesday, 03 June 2026.

A forensic pathology post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death for both children. The motive for the incident remains unknown at this stage.

The suspect is expected to appear before the Tshilwavhusiku Magistrate’s Court shortly, facing two counts of murder. Police investigations are continuing.
