2019 Christmas day farm attacks in South Africa

On a day set aside to commemorate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, a day that is intended to bring goodwill among men and to be a day of love and forgiveness, the scourge of violence continued unabated across the country. Christmas was again turned into a nightmare for some people as the ungodly and uncivilized went about their evil.

The daily occurrence of violent attacks on people in South Africa and the ongoing farm attacks and farm murders is not acceptable in any civilized society.

Far to often it is argued that this violent and demonic behavior does not affect only white civilized communities but that it is the norm in townships and black rural areas where black on black violence is out of control. Well that’s the point! Why should civilized, functional communities suffer this barbaric behavior?

On Wednesday 25 December 2019, in Cilliers, Kakamas, Northern Cape. An elderly couple were attacked on their smallholding at 22:00 and violently assaulted. Their son who came to his parents assistance. A massive fight ensued and the home was turned into a shambles, with blood everywhere and furniture destroyed. The son who was also attacked by the man, after a number of warnings, opened fire on the attacker killing him.

At 15:00 on Christmas day, 25 December 2019, in Harding, Hluku area in the KwaZulu Natal province. A farmer was confronted in his home by a panga wielding attacker. The farmer who was alone at the time was injured when the attacker laid into him with a bush knife. The farmer saved his life by managing to get to his vehicle and drive off to seek help. He suffered deep gashes to his head, chest and legs was admitted to hospital.

It was reported by ‘ToekomsVonk’ that from 1 January the end of September 2019, that on average a farmer in South Africa is murdered every 6.7 days.
