The president of the ANC Women’s League, Bathabile Dlamini, resigned as a member of parliament, indicating that the ANC is involved in a war with itself.

Bathabile Dlamini was previously a minister in the Zuma cabinet, and is now the seventh former ANC member and minister who is apparently not prepared to serve under their new president’s rule.

The ANC chief whip confirmed the resignation without giving a clear explanation of reasons.

Political analysts say the seven resignations can be regarded as aggrieved parliamentarians because their own president, Cyril Ramaphosa, left them out of the cabinet with his latest appointments after the election.

However, the suspicion is that Ramaphosa wanted to get rid of the Zuma fans, and had to wait until after the election.

Ramaphosa, however, had previously downgraded Dlamini to “Minister of Women affairs”, which is an insignificant post that has now been abolished.
