Jeff Radebe and Siyabonga Cwele are the latest members of the previous cabinet that have also resigned as MPs. Add to this Susan Shabangu, Dipuo Letsatsi-Duma and Nomaindia Mfeketo, then it’s six ex-ministers who are suddenly no longer able to serve in parliament.
Radebe became renowned because he held six cabinet posts during his term. The moves were typical after 1994 to take a minister, if it was not going well in the department and just re-deploy him or her in another portfolio.
Political analysts rightly ask whether the resignations are seen as dissatisfaction because they have been re posted or are there other dark reasons behind the resignations?
