Police Sergeant arrested for corruption and defeating the ends of justice

On April 22, 2016 detectives from the Provincial Organised Crime Unit arrested a Lentegeur detective on charges of corruption and defeating the ends of justice.

The 34 year old Sergeant was arrested shortly before 08:00 at the detective offices at Lentegeur police station, Western Cape.

It is alleged that he submitted a duplicate case docket to court, omitting certain details and also a statement indicating that the original docket was gone and that insufficient existed to prosecute, resulting in a charge of dealing in drugs being withdrawn against an accused.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Mitchell’s Plain Magistrates’ Court on Monday 25 April 2016.
