On Sunday morning 12 January 2020, around 02:00, on the N4 highway at Brits, North West province. A 26 year old man, his 22 year girlfriend and an American friend (40) were held up by an armed robber after they drove over stones that were packed in the road.
They drove on for a while and then stopped to change the tyre. The three occupants were suddenly surprised by an armed attacker, the three jumped out the vehicle and fled into the bush away from the car. One of them had a cell phone and called for help.
On returning to the car, they discovered that all their belongings were stolen taken from the car including cell phones, a camera, US dollars and the American’s passport and identification documents.
Police told the victims that three other similar incidents had occurred within a week at Brits.
