Martin Ackerman (42), from Welkom died on Friday night, 6 December 2019, when he drove into stones that were packed deliberately across the road, presumably by criminals who rob motorists after they hit the stones and stop. The incident occurred on the Bronville / Masimongmyn road. The Police were also called but they only arrived 4 hours later.
His bakkie which rolled and Martin suffered fatal injuries. His wife Tracey who was the passenger was trapped in the cabin of the bakkie. Six security guards in the back of the bakkie who all suffered injuries.
Bystanders assisted in pulling the injured through the window. The ambulance arrived and Martin was declared dead on the scene.
The accident happened at around 20:15, there was also load shedding at the time.
