Urgent intervention at the highest possible level is what is needed to address the current crisis at state hospitals. It came to light on 30 October 2019, that in 2018, more than 3832 deaths occurred in Gauteng hospitals due to medical negligence.

The FF Plus has been pointing out the terrible condition of our country’s state hospitals for quite some time now. The time has come to take action to address this deadly crisis that has obviously gotten completely out of hand.

The fact that South Africa’s state hospitals have turned into abattoirs and mortuaries can and may no longer be tolerated and National Health Insurance (NHI) is not the right solution for the problem.

Staff working at state hospitals have to make do with broken equipment and there is a constant lack of vital medication.

The Department of Health’s underspending of approximately R1 billion during the 2018/19 financial year is a shame and a slap in the face of the people of South Africa. It once again serves as proof that the ANC government has no concern for the people of this country.

The current crisis is becoming uncontrollable and real, extremely urgent steps must be taken to solve the problem.
