Mandela’s grandson also a jailbird

Die Vryburger

Nelson Mandela, who spent in prison 27 years for terrorism, seems to have set an example for his descendants. His grandson Mbuso Mandela spent nine days in the Johannesburg Correctional Centre or rather Sun City prison.

His offense, however, was that he did not fulfill his maintenance obligations and so he was arrested in Houghton.

Apparently, he managed to spend R4 million he inherited from Nelson but did not provide for his own offspring.

The authorities have on record that Mbuso was charged in 2015 with raping a 15-year-old girl. Shortly afterward, his brother Ndaba Mandela claimed that Mbuso had stolen money from him and laid a charge of theft against him. Ndaba also claimed that Mbuso used drugs. The case was later withdrawn. Another case against him was set in 2015 by a 41-year-old-woman for assault.
