MOTETEMA — A coordinated law enforcement operation in the Motetema policing area has resulted in the recovery of an estimated R900,000 in stolen goods linked to a recent Groblersdal business burglary. Following the successful seizure of the loot, a 45-year-old male suspect was taken into custody and is scheduled to appear at the Motetema Magistrate Court.

The breakthrough occurred on Tuesday, 16 June 2026, when authorities received actionable intelligence regarding a specific motor vehicle allegedly utilized by the perpetrators in connection with the Groblersdal crime. Acting swiftly on this tip-off, a multi-agency task team was deployed to intercept the vehicle. The joint force included detectives from the Sekhukhune Tracking and Investigation Team, local Motetema police officers, and community policing partners from Ratel TJ Security and the Farm Watch.

While sweeping the Motetema area based on the provided description, the task team identified and stopped a white Toyota double cab bakkie. The vehicle and its driver were subsequently transported to the Motetema police station for intensive questioning regarding the suspected burglary.

Investigative follow-ups and information gathered during the interrogation pointed officers toward a nearby residential property believed to be functioning as a stash house for the illicit merchandise. Upon arriving at the residence, a female occupant cooperated with authorities and granted them access to search the premises. During the sweep, police successfully located and confiscated the stolen business inventory, confirming the total estimated value of the recovered items at R900,000.
