Hopeful signs for South African minorities after a Trump victory

Front National

Amidst all the rumors about the election of Donald Trump as the next United States president, and the situation regarding the minority group in South Africa, there are two clear indications that we may have a reason for optimism.

Trump announced that Governor Nikki Hayley of South Carolina is named the USA’s new ambassador to the UN.

Governor Hayley is the daughter of Indian immigrants and is considered very conservative. She emerged shortly after the controversial Charleston church shooting and as a nationwide call for the old Confederate flag of the southern states (regarded by liberals as a symbol of white superiority) to be banned. Haley strongly defended the historical value of the flag. Haley has distant family ties in South Africa and has expressed her concern about the racial laws, impoverishing the minority group in the country.

Our foreign public relations head, Lenel Cotty Wessels has on behalf of Front National, and our members sent a good luck message to Governor Hayley, and we hope in her support and friendship in the UN.

Furthermore, a USA video recording released a few days ago is circulating around the world exposing the situation surrounding farm attacks, the impoverishment of Afrikaners, the racist remarks uttered by Julius Malema and the government corruption.

The 25-minute long video clip contains graphic depictions of attacks and violence.

The video calls for President Elect Donald Trump to ensure that the American ambassador sent to South Africa, will defend the rights of the minority group and to ensure that the US development assistance given to South Africa is not only spent on the majority population and (I quote) “racist and murderous government” to abuse.

Such an appointment would be a welcome hope for us. It is well known that four years ago, Barack Obama’s ambassador to South Africa, Patrick Gasspard was sent here because he was an embarrassment to the Democratic Party in the US and for his outspoken hatred for whites. In South Africa Gasspard, repeatedly proved to have an association with the EFF.

It is for these reasons that Front National have never bothered to state our case to the US Embassy. We all knew where we stood with Gasspard. It is politically naive to expect a friendly reception with such a person, not to mention the potential of how he could manipulate a petition to reflect the opposite in Washington. Front National will keep their eyes on the appointment of the new ambassador and will certainly liaise with the Embassy as soon as possible.

A new US president, a new ambassador to South Africa, and a positive sign that there is hope.
