The Groenpoort Rural Safety Monthly Meeting took place last night. Captain Thivhulawi Tshilate – Communication Officer and Social Crime Prevention Co-ordinator and Warrant Officer Jacques Bierman – Rural Safety Co-ordinator attended the meeting and actively engaged with community members. This meeting created room for better communication between the rural community and the SAPS, creating an opportunity for farmers and members of the rural community to share more information with each other and the SAPS in the effort to fight crime.

The discussion was about community safety focussing on the rural community, strategies on how the Police can be contacted to ensure swift response when needed aiming to establish an integrated approach to building safety and strengthening community participation in the fight against crime.

Farmers were asked to encourage other farmers and members from the rural community to get involved in the Rural Safety Meeting for sharing information on safety measures in order to promote and maintain mutual relations amongst each other.

Warrant Officer Jacques Bierman encouraged Farmers to keep Sector Patrol Vehicle Cell Phone Numbers at hand for easy communication when Police are needed.

The SAPS regards the safety and security of the rural community in South Africa as a priority. All SAPS members are encouraged to work closely with the rural communities to fight acts of violence against our rural communities.
