Mr André Pienaar (51) has been denied bail in the Senekal magistrates court on 13 October 2020. His case has been postponed to 20 November 2020. The charges of, among other things, terrorism, attempted murder, incitement to violence and public violence brought against him serve as proof that there are double standards when it comes to farmers and the agricultural community in South Africa.

Pienaar was arrested after a protest at the Senekal court after the two attackers accused of the violent and brutal murder of Brendin Horner (21) were, on 6 October 2020, remanded in custody by the Senekal magistrates court.

The attackers will appear again on 16 October 2020, where they are expected to apply for bail.

In the build up to the hearing, Dr Pieter Groenewald from the FF Plus said, “The prosecuting authority is supposed to always remain objective, equitable and fair toward all accused individuals. Clearly this is not the case here and the charges are being blown out of proportion.”

“There was no sign of terrorism during the Senekal court case and nobody’s life was endangered.”
