Two men arrested for allegedly robbing a shop in Dutywa in the Eastern Cape, will appear in court on Friday, police said.
Police spokesperson Captain Jackson Manatha said the men, aged 32 and 44, were arrested on Thursday after two firearms were found in their possession.
“Both suspects were arrested after they robbed a local trading store in the CBD of Dutywa town. A .765 pistol with four rounds of ammunition was recovered from one suspect while a 9mm star pistol with six rounds of ammunition was recovered from another suspect,” he said.
The police also recovered an undisclosed amount of money from the two men.
“The firearms will be sent for ballistic test to establish if they were not used in the commission of crime around Dutywa.”
The pair was expected to appear in the Dutywa Magistrate’s Court on Friday, on charges of business robbery and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
