KWAZULU-NATAL – A targeted Montclair drug arrest has resulted in the apprehension of a 58-year-old Nigerian national, following a precise operation by the KwaZulu-Natal SAPS Provincial Drugs and Firearms Unit. This intelligence-driven intervention successfully removed a substantial quantity of illicit narcotics from local circulation, underscoring the province’s intensified crackdown on drug-related crime.
During the coordinated raid, law enforcement officers intercepted the individual and discovered 96 individual pieces of rock cocaine in his possession. Authorities have appraised the confiscated narcotics at an estimated street value of R76,800.00.
Confirming the details of the bust, KZN police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Paul Magwaza emphasized that the apprehension was the direct result of meticulous, intelligence-led policing. The operation highlights the provincial unit’s ongoing strategy to dismantle local drug distribution networks through actionable, focused leads.
Following the successful intervention, the suspect was formally charged with possession of drugs. He is scheduled to make his first appearance before the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 27 July 2026, to answer to the allegations.
