FREE STATE – A 38-year-old husband has been arrested and charged with the alleged murder of his wife in Grasslands Three, Bloemfontein, following a swift and prompt response by local law enforcement to a residential crime scene on Wednesday evening.
The incident unfolded on 15 July 2026 at approximately 19:10, when Bloemspruit police were dispatched to a residential property following reports of a suspected murder. Upon arrival, officers encountered a tenant residing on the premises who had made the initial discovery.
According to the preliminary account, the tenant arrived home to find the 38-year-old husband highly intoxicated and sleeping outside the residence. Concerned, the tenant entered the main house and discovered the 38-year-old female victim lying on a bed, covered with blankets, with visible blood around her mouth. Despite emergency intervention, the victim was declared dead at the scene.
