LIMPOPO — A major dagga seizure in Sekhukhune has led to the recovery of narcotics worth more than R500,000 after Limpopo police intercepted a transport vehicle carrying the illicit cargo. The significant drug bust was executed following a targeted intelligence operation.
Acting on a tip-off received on Wednesday, 17 June 2026, law enforcement officers tracked a silver grey Toyota Hilux bakkie. The vehicle was successfully intercepted at Steelbridge in Ga-Malekana village at the exact point it was crossing into the Sekhukhune policing jurisdiction.
Upon stopping the bakkie, officers requested and were granted the driver’s permission to conduct a search. During the inspection, authorities uncovered a substantial haul of dagga neatly packaged inside black plastic bags. The confiscated narcotics were subsequently weighed, revealing a total mass of exactly 258.251 kg.
When questioned by investigators, the 44-year-old male driver failed to provide a satisfactory explanation regarding the origin of the drugs. Consequently, he was apprehended at the scene and formally charged with the possession of dagga.
