LIMPOPO — A prominent traditional healer operating in the region has been handed an eight-year prison sentence following his conviction for rape. The Burgersfort Regional Court delivered the judgment against 49-year-old Daniel Masinga on Monday, 15 June 2026, concluding a prolonged legal process.
The complex investigation was spearheaded by the Burgersfort Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit. Under the direction of Sergeant Letsatsi Mojalefa, detectives compiled a robust evidentiary dossier that successfully secured the accused’s conviction and subsequent sentencing.
Masinga’s path to justice was marked by significant legal delays. He was initially released on bail in 2020 but subsequently absconded by failing to make his required court appearances. This evasion prompted the judiciary to issue an arrest warrant. The fugitive remained at large until December 2025, when law enforcement successfully tracked and re-arrested him. He was remanded in custody from that point forward until the final ruling was handed down.
