
BELA-BELA — A 25-year-old suspect remains in custody following a Bela-Bela rape arrest connected to a violent incident at a local liquor outlet. Authorities report that the 24-year-old victim was allegedly attacked on Friday, 13 June 2026, after visiting the establishment with her sister.
According to preliminary police reports, the situation escalated after the victim’s sister departed the premises. The accused allegedly approached the remaining woman, demanding that she reimburse him for funds he had previously spent on her sibling. When she declined the demand, the man reportedly forced her into an adjacent room, threatened her with a knife, and raped her.
Law enforcement officials were alerted to the ordeal shortly after it occurred, prompting the immediate opening of a rape case. Swift investigative efforts led to the apprehension of the accused. He is currently being held in police custody and is scheduled to make his first court appearance at the Bela-Bela Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 17 June 2026.
