ROUXVILLE — Local authorities have taken a 51-year-old man into custody, charging him with attempted murder and rape following a brutal nighttime attack. The suspect is scheduled to make a formal appearance at the Rouxville Magistrate’s Court after police swiftly apprehended him based on the victim’s detailed account.

According to police reports, the 50-year-old complainant was socializing and consuming alcohol at a neighbor’s residence starting at 14:00 on 13 June 2026. As evening approached, the intoxicated woman returned to her own home and went to sleep, failing to secure her entrance door.

The ordeal escalated at approximately 20:30, roughly half an hour after she had arrived home. The victim awoke to someone opening her door and looked up to identify the intruder as the accused. When she questioned his presence, he allegedly replied, “Kgale ke batlana le wena,” which translates to “I have been looking for you for a very long time.”

Following this statement, the suspect allegedly launched a violent physical assault. He strangled the woman before dragging her from one bed to another. There, he forcibly undressed her and raped her, eventually fleeing the scene.

The victim remained in her home until daylight broke before seeking help. She reported the incident to the Rouxville police in the morning. Law enforcement acted rapidly on the information provided, tracking down and arresting the accused. All relevant role players have been notified of the successful apprehension and the impending court proceedings.
