The Sasolburg Regional Court convicted and sentenced 53-year-old Janine Scheepers on fraud and money laundering charges on Friday, 15 May 2026.

The offences occurred between 26 April 2022 and 28 December 2023 at a company in Sasolburg.

Complainants Elzette Swannepoel and Frankie de Paiva alleged that Scheepers fraudulently stole R990,506.06 over two years.

The investigation revealed that Scheepers manipulated and falsified banking details, changing clients’ bank information to her own account details. This diverted payments intended for clients into her personal account.

Detective Sergeant Anoesjka Maartens of the Sasolburg Detectives led the case and proved the allegations. Scheepers faced 45 counts of fraud and 45 counts of money laundering.

The court seized Scheepers’ house, valued at approximately R900,000, through asset forfeiture proceedings and transferred ownership to the complainants.

The court sentenced Scheepers to six years imprisonment or a fine of R200,000, wholly suspended for five years. The court also declared her unfit to possess a firearm.
