A 48-year-old man is scheduled to appear before the Dzanani Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 05 November 2025, facing charges of murder and attempted murder following a violent attack in Makatu Village.
The suspect was arrested on Tuesday, 04 November 2025, at Biaba in Makhado. The arrest was the result of a swift joint operation by Siloam Detectives and Makhado Police, who acted on intelligence regarding his whereabouts.
The charges stem from a brutal incident that occurred on the morning of Monday, 03 November 2025. It is alleged that the suspect forcefully entered the home of his 47-year-old girlfriend while she and her daughters were asleep.
According to police reports, the attack was discovered when a 16-year-old daughter was awakened by her younger sister’s screams. She found the suspect, who was known to the family, attacking her mother. When the teenager attempted to intervene, the suspect turned on her, stabbing her multiple times before fleeing the scene.
Upon arrival, police discovered the lifeless body of the 47-year-old woman, who had sustained multiple stab wounds. The 16-year-old girl was rushed to a local hospital for emergency medical treatment.
Police confirmed that further investigation has revealed the suspect is a repeat offender.
