The police attached to Sedibeng District officially disposed of liquor confiscated from various policing precincts across the district in a concerted effort to combat illegal alcohol sales and related crimes.
The event was attended by officers from Sedibeng District, Evaton, Meyerton, Ratanda, Sebokeng, Sharpeville, and Vereeniging, alongside key stakeholders including the Office of the Premier, the MMC of Safety and Security, the Liquor Board, Gauteng Traffic, Emfuleni By-Laws, Midvaal authorities, Gauteng Traffic Wardens, and Community Policing Forum (CPF) representatives.
Acting District Commissioner Brigadier Mbangwa Nkhwashu led the demonstration of the liquor disposal process, emphasizing the collaborative efforts of multiple police stations in the district. He revealed that a total of 2,164.93 millilitres of alcohol—seized from unlicensed individuals and businesses—was destroyed in this phase.
