Cookhouse: Two suspected drug traffickers nabbed with drugs worth R170 000

Consignment of mandrax tablets

The N10 in the Eastern Cape is becoming a nightmare route for drug traffickers including abalone poachers, as the Cookhouse SAPS Highway Patrol team is causing a dent on syndicates involved in illicit drugs dealing. Two suspected drug traffickers were nabbed with a consignment of mandrax tablets worth around R170 000 in Cookhouse yesterday, 02 February 2025.

It is alleged that on Sunday evening, 2 February 2025 around 23:00, members from Cookhouse SAPS Highway Patrol were busy with a vehicle checkpoint on the N10. Moments later, a white Opel Corsa bakkie with two occupants was pulled off the road. During a routine search, police recovered a consignment of mandrax tablets stashed inside a compartment of a side panel. The two men aged 30 and 31 were arrested and are due to appear in court soon on charges of dealing in illicit drugs.
