A coordinated law enforcement operation in the Sarah Baartman District has led to the arrest of a 33-year-old man and the recovery of drugs valued at approximately R150,000.

The operation unfolded on Monday, 01 June 2026, at around 22:00, when members of the Sarah Baartman District Crime Intelligence Unit, working alongside the Sarah Baartman District Intervention Team, executed a court-issued search warrant at a residential property on Mhlonyane Street in Kwanomzamo, Humansdorp.

Police formally presented the warrant to the 33-year-old male occupant and property owner before proceeding with a detailed search of the premises. Officers uncovered a significant cache of illegal substances hidden inside furniture items throughout the house, including:

835 full Mandrax tablets
207.54 grams of tik (methamphetamine)
93.72 grams of cocaine

The total estimated street value of the seized drugs is R150,000-00. The suspect was taken into custody on charges related to drug dealing and is expected to make his first appearance in the Humansdorp Magistrate’s Court shortly.

Acting Sarah Baartman District Commissioner, Brigadier Abdoerahgmaan Humphries, praised the operational teams for their diligence and strategic approach.

“This result underscores the effectiveness of intelligence-led policing in combating substance abuse and organized crime,” Brigadier Humphries commented. “Drug syndicates must understand that SAPS remains resolute in its mission to disrupt and dismantle trafficking networks across the district.”

The Sarah Baartman SAPS continues to urge residents to share information about suspected drug-related activity through official reporting channels, noting that community partnerships are essential to sustaining law enforcement gains.
