Dagga dealer shot by police, Flagstaff

Police followed up information which led them to a taxi rank where they noticed someone fitting the description of the suspect. The suspect drew a firearm and pointed it towards the police upon which the police took cover and retaliated. Police fired shots resulting in the suspect sustaining a gunshot wound in the abdomen.

Upon searching the suspect’s bag, members found dagga, a firearm with two rounds of ammunition and confiscated it. The injured suspect was taken to Mandela hospital where he is under heavy police guard.

Cases of attempted murder, pointing of a firearm, possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition and possession of dagga have been opened for investigation.
