In a surprise move, the state withdrew the charges against three suspects in the Danie and Angelika Crafford armed robbery on the farm Kooigoed farm (11th March 2017) outside Riversdale.
The suspects, Siyabonga Sonqwaba (30), Anda Sizwana (32), and Siyabulela Belekana (34) first appeared in court to apply for bail when magistrate Leatetia Freeman gave them an opportunity to ask for a lawyer, and they agreed for Legal Aid South Africa to appoint a state attorney.
Later that same day, the charges against the three suspects were withdrawn by the state.
The fourth suspect, Unathui Mabi (28) remains in custody and will appear on Monday, April 24. The magistrate ordered the clerk of the court to obtain a medical report from the George Prison regarding this suspect.
