A 40-year-old woman was raped in broad daylight on March 23, 2015 while her family moved to a rental home on a farm near Dorset, between Vaalwater and Lephalale (Ellisras) in Limpopo province.
Col. Ronel Otto provincial police spokesperson, confirmed on Tuesday to Maroela Media that an unknown man attacked the woman at about 16:00 in the house. The woman’s identity is protected.
“The man grabbed the victim and dragged her to a water pumping station where he allegedly raped her,” said Otto.
The suspect fled with two cell phones from the scene. The woman was badly beaten during the attack and was taken to a nearby hospital.
A friend of the victim said she was seriously injured but out of danger. There were three children at home, but they are safe, as she fought back in order to protect them.
The woman was allegedly beaten during the attack with a blunt object on the head and had sustained head wounds. She also sustained injuries to her face and arms as she fought back.
Dorset Police are investigating a case of theft, rape and assault with intent to cause serious bodily harm.
The police and farmers from the area are currently looking for the suspect.
