KHAYELITSHA – Western Cape police have executed a significant drug seizure in Khayelitsha, confiscating illicit substances valued at R1.5 million during an early-morning, intelligence-driven operation.
The operation was conducted by members of the Anti-Economic Crime Task Team in collaboration with the Provincial Counterfeit and Illicit Goods Policing Team. Authorities targeted specific premises located on Raymond Mhlaba Crescent in Mandela Park at approximately 03:30 on Monday, 24 August 2026.
During the search, law enforcement officials recovered 7,777 Mandrax tablets and 1.6 kilograms of crystal meth. A 57-year-old female suspect was present at the location and was subsequently arrested on charges of dealing in drugs.
According to the Western Cape Police, the suspect will be formally charged and is scheduled to make her first appearance at the Khayelitsha Magistrate’s Court.
This confiscation underscores the ongoing, intensified efforts by provincial law enforcement to remove illegal narcotics from the streets, disrupt local drug distribution networks, and combat organized crime within Western Cape communities.
