The efforts of members attached to Operation Combat to address gang related crime in the Western Cape province were rewarded last night with the arrest of two suspects and the seizure of a prohibited firearm and drugs.

In Bonteheuwel a 27-year-old suspect was arrested for being in possession of two packets of tik (crystal meth) with an estimated street value of R20 000 after he was stopped and searched for acting suspiciously.

In Elsies River members acted on a tip off and searched a residence in Maria street where they discovered a prohibited firearm and ammunition, as well as a variety of drugs to the value of R6 600. The suspect, a 42-year-old man was arrested.

Both suspects are due to make a court appearance in Bishop Lavis court once they have been charged.
