Police crime prevention unit officers in Atlantis, Cape Town, have confiscated two unlicensed firearms and ammunition and arrested six women suspects, Western Cape police said on Sunday.
The officers received information that firearms were being kept in the ceiling of a residence in Duif Steeg, Robinvale, Atlantis, Captain FC van Wyk said.
The officers searched the premises and found two firearms – a .38 Taurus revolver and a 9mm Taurus pistol – and ammunition.
“Six female suspects between the ages of 17 and 49 years were detained for the illegal possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition. The suspects are all due to appear in the Atlantis Magistrate’s Court on Monday,” Van Wyk said.
