Three police officers murdered past week in Western Cape

The National head of the DPCI is deeply disturbed by the brutal murder of three police officers this past week in the Western Cape.

These unwarranted attacks also left three other officers wounded.

Constable Masibonge Mqwada, 33, was allegedly shot and killed In Kraaifontein whilst reportedly dropping of a relative just after 01:00 on Saturday, when three armed assailants pounced, in an apparent hijacking attempt.

Meanwhile, Constable Thandoxolo Ndiki, 30, was allegedly found lying on the street pavement in Delft, around 03:30 on the same day, with what appeared to be gunshot wound to the upper body.

He was taken to hospital but later succumbed to his injuries. His vehicle has since been recovered in Muizenberg on Sunday afternoon. Motive is still unclear at this stage.

Constable Amanda Ladlokova was shot and killed whilst on Tuesday night whilst on duty in Philippi East.

Circumstances surrounding these incidents are being investigated. One suspect has already been arrested and appeared in court during the past week for the alleged murder of Ladlokova.

The National Head of the Directorate for Priority Crime investigations, Lieutenant General, Mthandazo Ntlemeza said police attacks remain a priority crime as this threatens the safety of communities in the country.

“We shall continue to relentlessly pursue all responsible in carrying-out the directorate’s mandate of ensuring that all people are and feel safe in the country, an attack on a police officer is an attack on the state,” he said.

Meanwhile, as investigations continues, the outstanding perpetrators are still being sought and we shall not rest until they are found.
