Western Cape Anti-Gang Unit detectives are investigating a shooting incident in Kalksteenfontein, Bishop Lavis, that left three men dead and four others injured on Thursday evening.

According to police, a group of seven men were sitting outside a residence drinking at approximately 20:10 when a vehicle arrived. Three armed men alighted from the vehicle and began shooting randomly at the group before fleeing the scene in the same vehicle.

Three victims—aged 40, 64, and 66—were pronounced dead at the scene. The four other victims sustained injuries and were transported to a medical facility for treatment.

Bishop Lavis police have opened three counts of murder and four counts of attempted murder. No arrests have been made at this stage.

Authorities state the incident is believed to be gang-related. Police deployments in the area have since been bolstered to prevent further incidents. Investigations are ongoing.
