Three arrested for robbing UCT students

Three men, aged between 24 and 30, were due to appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrate’s Court on Monday to face charges relating to the armed robbery of University of Cape Town students in the area last month.

Western Cape police spokesperson Constable Noloyiso Rwexana said police had received a tip off from people in the community which led to the arrest of the three suspects at around 5am on Friday.

The three arebeing linked to the robbery of UCT students in Khayelitsha three weeks ago. It was reported that the six health science students were robbed at gunpoint outside a primary school in Site B.

She said police had managed to recover some of the stolen items in the house belonging to one of the men.

Station Commander of Khayelitsha, Brigadier Mkuseli Nkwitshi, expressed thanks toward the community for their help.
