Notorious gang leader arrested during SAPS Cape Town operations

On Monday 2016-12-05 at 12:00, members of SAPS Cape Town Central Tactical Response Team, performed crime prevention duties in Lonian Street, Rocklands, Mitchells Plain.

The members stopped and searched a suspicious vehicle with three males. They were found to be in possession of a firearm and five live rounds.

Three suspects aged 45, 43 and 38 years old were arrested and they face various charges namely possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition, tampering with a firearm, armed robbery and possession of stolen property.

These suspects are linked to an armed robbery that occurred earlier on the same afternoon; when two males entered a taxi and robbed all the passengers. All of the stolen property were recovered by the Cape Town Central Tactical Response Team members. One of the suspects is a notorious gang leader.
