Hefty sentences for the ‘JCY’ murdering gangsters, Cape High Court
Hefty sentences for the 'JCY' murdering gangsters, Cape High Court

The Worcester Detectives investigated members of the JCY Gang, and secured successful convictions for the accused.

All members of the Junior Cisco Yakkees “JCY” gang group who were the accused in the killing of members of the Uitbyter gang at Avian Park in Worcester during a shooting in March 2017, were found guilty and were sentenced in the High Court in Cape Town on 24 August 2018.

Sentences were imposed under the Prevention of Organised Crime Act (POCA): Sect 9 (1) (a), read with Sect 1, 10 and 11, as follows:-

Accused: Joachim Dudley
22 years’ direct imprisonment for murder;
5 years’ direct imprisonment under the Prevention of
Organised Crime Act (POCA), Section 10;
5 years’ direct imprisonment under the Prevention of
Organised Crime Act (POCA), Section 10;
8 years’ direct imprisonment for attempted murder;
8 years’ imprisonment for possession of a firearm
without a licence; and
2 years’ imprisonment for possession of ammunition.

Accused: Waldo Julies
20 years’ direct imprisonment for murder;
5 years’ direct imprisonment under the Prevention of
Organised Crime Act (POCA), Section 10;
5 years’ direct imprisonment under the Prevention of
Organised Crime Act (POCA), Section 10; and
8 years’ imprisonment for possession of a firearm
without a licence.

Accused: Lungisani Tsetse
20 years’ direct imprisonment for murder;
20 years’ direct imprisonment for murder;
5 years’ direct imprisonment under the Prevention of
Organised Crime Act (POCA), Section 10;
5 years’ direct imprisonment under the Prevention of
Organised Crime Act (POCA), Section 10;
8 years’ direct imprisonment for attempted murder;
8 years’ imprisonment for possession of a firearm
without a licence; and
2 years’ imprisonment for possession of ammunition.

The Western Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General KE Jula, commended the investigating team for their dedication and commitment in apprehending these gangsters and removing them from the Worcester community. He welcomed the successful convictions and sentences.
