In an effort to rid the communities of illegal firearms and fight the scourge of gangsterism, members attached to the Provincial Integrated Team arrested a 42-year-old male for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

On Sunday, 17 January 2021, the members executed a search and seizure operation at a premises in Mtembeko Street Bloekombos, Kraaifontein for drugs and firearms. The outcome was positive when members found the suspect in possession of a Norinco firearm sixteen 9mm rounds of ammunition, and also seven different calibre rounds. He was arrested on charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

The firearm will be sent for ballistic test to see if it could be linked to other crimes. The suspect is due to appear in the Blue Downs Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 19 January 2021 on the mentioned charges.

The same day at about 22:00 members of the K9 Unit were summoned to Woodstock to assist with a housebreaking and business theft in progress complaint. The members used their patrol dog, Chico to search for the suspects. Two suspects aged 23 and 33 was arrested and the stolen items were recovered.

The two suspects are due to appear in the Cape Town Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 19 January 2021 on charges of housebreaking and theft.
