Western Cape: Four suspects were apprehended this morning driving a hijacked vehicle. Members of the Western Cape Flying Squad were on patrol in Amsterdam Road in Philippi when they noticed a Mazda Etude without number plates with four occupants inside.

Members signaled for the driver to stop but the vehicle sped off. A chase ensued and the driver of the vehicle lost control and collided with a fence of a school in Debeza Street. Members tested the vehicle and discovered that it was reported hijacked in Lingelethu in Khayelitsha. They further searched the vehicle and found six different cell phone, six knives one with stains of blood and two number plates. Both number plates were false because they did not match the disc of the vehicle.

The suspects aged between 22 and 32 were arrested and are expected to appear in Athlone Magistrate Court for the possession of a hijacked vehicle, possession of dangerous weapons and suspected stolen property.
