Farm attackers arrested for assault, robbery at Wolseley farm

Police members from Breede K9 Unit and Wolseley SAPS are commended for putting dangerous criminals behind bars and acting against the proliferation of illegal firearms and ammunition. They arrested three suspects aged 25, 32 and 30 years in connection with a robbery at a farm in Wolseley on Wednesday 24 August 2016 at about 18:00.

It is alleged that the suspects, who had been monitoring the house, went into the house shortly after the victim’s husband had left the farm in a car. When they arrived at the house, they forced open a door with an unknown object and assaulted a 71 year old victim who was alone inside the house. The victim sustained head injuries and had to be rushed to hospital for medical treatment.

The suspects fled the scene with the following firearms and ammunition, which were later recovered from them:

  • 1 x .22 Rossi long rifle
  • 1 x Shotgun
  • 1 x .45 revolver
  • 1 x 6.35 Pistol
  • 13 x .45 rounds
  • 13 x 6.35 rounds
  • 4 x shotgun cartridges

Electronic items which were also stolen and recovered from these suspects include:

  • 1 x pair of Nikon binoculars
  • 1 x black wallet containing bank cards
  • 1 x silver Apple tablet smartphone
  • 1 x black iPhone
  • 1 x white iPhone
  • 1 x bunch of keys with a remote control device

The three suspects are expected to appear in the Wolseley Magistrates’ Court on Monday 29 August 2016 after they have been charged with robbery, assault and possession of stolen property.
