On Tuesday, January 3, during broad daylight a Dutch tourist was attacked with a hammer. The incident happened on a beach road situated between Muizenberg and St James, in Cape Town.
Two attackers, a man, and a woman grabbed Elise Jones (19) and repeatedly beat her legs with a hammer and dragged her into an alley under a railway line. The attack happened around 16H00.
The suspects carried her backpack, cell phone, and jewelry. Jones said she tried to escape but the attackers chased her.
The Muizenberg police are investigating a charge of robbery.
