A 29 year old arrested with Mandrax worth R20 800 in Phillipi

Western Cape: Saturday night at about 22:15 Phillipi SAPS members arrested a29 year old male from Oacklands close Westridge Mitchells Plain after following up information that drugs been stored at a residence in Evergreen Road Hanover Park . The suspect were found in possession of 260 Mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R 20 800.

In an unrelated case on Saturday 23 July SAPS members received information indicating that drugs were being transported from Cape Town to Worcester. The information was forwarded to Worcester SAPS who conducted an operation. A white Mitsubishi Colt LDV with registration CY 63461 was pulled over near a petrol station in Worcester. Two male occupants were found and on searching the LDV 999 Mandrax tablets were found. The suspects were arrested on charges of possession of drugs . Both suspects are from the Belhar area in Cape Town. They are due to appear in the Worcester Magistrates Court on Monday on a charge of possession of drugs.

In an unrelated case in Ashton two males aged 19 and 20 were arrested for the theft of firearm and ammunition and being in possession thereof at Bloekomstreet, Ashton on Ssturday 23 July at about 22:00. It is alleged that the 19 year old, son of a pastor in Ashton has stolen the 9mm pistol of his father at Coronation Avenue, Ashton 23 July and hand it over to his 20 year old friend who resides at Sipres Street, Ashton. The firearm and six 9mm rounds were found in possession of the 20 year old suspect. Both are in custody and will appear in Ashton Magistrates Court on Monday 25 July on the said charges.
