Crime Prevention Unit Apprehends Two Suspects After Shooting

Members of the Delft Crime Prevention Unit responded to reports of gunshots in Assegaai Street on the night of Friday, 27 March 2026.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers were directed by community members to the location of suspects who were fleeing the area. The officers pursued the suspects, who fired shots at them. The officers returned fire.

Two adult male suspects were apprehended. Authorities recovered two .38 Special revolvers and ammunition.

The suspects were arrested on charges of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, as well as attempted murder.

They are scheduled to appear in the Bellville Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 30 March 2026.
