Western Cape, Harare SAPS members were on vehicle patrols on today, 2016-08-17 in Lindela Road, Kuyasa in Khayelitsha. At approximately 10:30 they noticed three suspicious persons. As these suspects noticed the presence of the police they ran in different directions, but members managed to apprehend one of them.
The apprehended suspect was found to be in possession of a Norinco pistol with serial number filed off and eight (8) live ammunition.
Upon further questioning the suspect revealed that they had just committed a business robbery at a fruit and veg spaza in the same road, during which they took cash.
A case of business robbery was registered later and the suspect was positively identified by the complainant. A 17 year old boy was arrested for possession of illegal firearm and business robbery. He is expected to appear in Khayelitsha Magistrates’ Court.
Provincial Police management applauded the efforts made by the SAPS members in making sure that the residents are living in a safe and secure environment.
