804 Arrested in one week for various crimes Mitchell’s Plain

During the past week, the Mitchell’s Plain Cluster continued with their efforts to clamp down on crime and criminal activities in their policing precincts.

Police have arrested 804 suspects from Friday 9 September 2016 to Thursday 15 September 2016. A total of 296 suspects were arrested for possession of drugs during stop and searches and 128 houses were searched for drugs. During these operations 3.8 kg of Dagga, 129 Mandrax tablets, 572 g of Tik and 237.29 g of Heroin were confiscated.

The SAPS will stop at nothing to fight crimes against women and children. To this end 13 suspects were arrested for domestic violence related cases.

Tracing operations resulted in the arrest of 48 wanted suspects during 11 operations that were conducted during this past week.

The Mitchell’s Plain Cluster Commander, Major General Gregory Goss, says the police will continue clamping down on crime and criminal activities and bringing perpetrators thereof to justice. The police will maintain a zero tolerance approach in the prevention and investigation of crime. The Cluster Commander applauded all members who participated during these operations, together with other security forces who joined the operations and ensured this large number of arrests over the past week.
