19-Year-old suspect arrested for the illegal possession of a firearm, ammunition and drugs in Portlands, Mitchells Plain.
On Wednesday, 7 December 2016 at 13:30, Mitchells Plain Crime Prevention Unit received information about a firearm and drugs that were kept at a premises in Piccadilly way, Portlands, Mitchells Plain.
When the premises was searched, members found a black 9mm pistol with two magazines and 68 x 9mm rounds of ammunition and 11 x 7.65 rounds of ammunition.
Members also confiscated 61 packets of crystal meth (tik), 314 half mandrax tablets and 43 mandrax tablets.
A 19-year-old male was arrested and will be charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm, ammunition and possession of drugs. He will appear in the Mitchells Plain Magistrates Court on Friday 2016-12-09.
Mitchells Plain Station Commander Brigadier Cass Goolam said that these successes are a reflection of the good co-operation that exists between the community and the Police of the Mitchells Plain Cluster.
