Absa has already began to question the Gupta accounts in 2014 when large sums of money were transferred from the Oakbay account to other banks without explanation.

After review, Absa broke all ties with the Guptas in December 2015.

Absa, like FNB and Standard Bank, were approached by the ruling party to discuss the Gupta accounts by Gwede Mantashe, Enoch Godongwana, Jesse Duarte and Krish Naidoo. A request by Mosebenzi Zwane to meet a ministerial committee was rejected.

The witnesses during the state capture investigation show that not only Jacob Zuma was involved in the Gupta’s dark operations but various cabinet ministers too. It appears that the rotting from above went through the cabinet and to most of the state entities.
