One of the positive lessons I learned from the Apartheid regime is that when you stop complaining you start to think of solutions. Cuba was coming to attack South Africa with Russian tanks, So The Apartheid regime needed a Helicopter that can be used to destroy Cuban operated Russian tanks, but due to sanctions, limited budgets and an arms embargo that was imposed by the United Nations security council, South Africa was not allowed to buy weapons abroad.

The Apartheid government had two options. Its either they complain about sanctions or they create their own Helicopter. They decided to stop complaining and produce their own armaments. They created the best Helicopter in the world.

When it was produced, the Rooivalk attack helicopter was the only Helicopter that can fly upside down. Until today, the Rooivalk is the best thing that has ever been produced on the African continent. This happened because white people did not complain about sanctions.

When you complain you feel helpless. When you complain you feel that whatever is happening to you is not your fault and there is nothing you can do. While it’s true that many problems that are happening to us might be the mistake of someone, this doesn’t mean that you can’t take corrective actions. When you stop complaining you will be amazed by the creative solutions that your mind can produce. When you stop complaining your mind will look for a way out.

The reason why former colonized countries are better than South Africa is because they decided to stop complaining about the past and look for solutions while South Africans are still complaining about something that ended 24 years ago.

As long as you choose to complain about the past, looking for solutions will never be an option and your life will never improve. Your life will improve the day you stop complaining.
