South African farmers need help to protect their future – Graphic images

On Friday May 15, 2015, 10 head of cattle were stolen from a neighbouring farm. These cattle were herded approximately 20 km from the farm to the settlement of Daveyton.

There they were slaughtered, and only the prime cuts taken. The stud bull was among the stolen, his heel tendons were cut so that he could not get away, and be slaughtered later. He had to be put down.

One cow was found this morning, her heels also cut but not through, she may recover. This is the 10th time this year. Always 5 to 10 cattle at a time. And always the waste, only taking prime cuts. Always the macabre scene of animals with their heels cut, unable to walk and get to water or grazing, helplessly lying there waiting to be killed. Often they start hacking them up without killing them first.

Nothing is being done to assist farmers, we are on our own in trying to protect our futures. We need help. We need protection.
