An alleged card cloning syndicate kingpin, Arthur Qedinda Dube (38), has been remanded in custody after he appeared alongside his co accused Silindilizwe Ntini (40), and Lwazi Madonono (30), at the Muizenberg Magistrate’s Court for fraud.

The Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation unit arrested Dube on 15 March 2019, in Johannesburg on a warrant of arrest after he had been linked to various alleged fraudulent transactions in Cape Town and surrounding areas.

Dube was on the run at the time of his arrest, he appeared at the Hillbrow court and the case was transferred to the Muizenberg court culminating in his appearance where the hawks successfully opposed his bail bid.

Meanwhile Ntini and Madonono who are both out on bail after they were arrested separately and charged for possession of cloned bank cards in contravention of the Electronic Communication and Transaction Act.

Ntini was arrested soon after a fraudulent incident at Vangate Mall Cape town in October 2017 and further investigations led to the arrest of Madonono in May 2018.

A stack of cloned cards linked to the trio that were reportedly used at various Cape Town Malls between 24 September and 3 October 2017 were seized.

The case against the trio has been transferred to the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court in Bellville for 26 April 2019.
