Seven held after SA Social Security Agency robbery

Johannesburg – Seven people were arrested following an armed robbery at an SA Social Security Agency (Sassa) paypoint situated inside a Shoprite store in Bishop Lavis on Sunday, Western Cape police said.

The men had fled the scene in a getaway vehicle, said Constable Lorencial Johnson.

“A chase ensued between the police and the suspects through different areas including Ravensmead, Parow and Goodwood,” said Johnson.

Several shots were exchanged between the police and the robbers.

“The suspects abandoned the vehicle in Jan van Riebeek Drive, Parow,” said Johnson.

Four of the seven arrested sustained injuries during the shootout and were hospitalised under police guard…
